It is our privilege to introduce to you the Lord's church meeting at 1201 Hwy 24 East, Red Bay, AL 35582 (corner of Hwy 24 East and Meadow Dr). Some who view this website may not be familiar with what we teach and practice, so let me briefly acquaint you with our teaching and practice.

We conduct Bible classes for all ages each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and then a service at 10:30 a.m. during which we engage in acts of worship prescribed in the New Testament which includes singing hymns, praying, observing the Lord’s Supper; giving as we have prospered and the presentation of a sermon from God's Word. Then at 4:00 p.m. we have another similar worship service which includes the presentation of a sermon from God’s Word. We also have a mid-week Bible study each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. with classes for all ages. You are welcome at any and all of these services. Our Bible study classes are about 45 minutes. Competent teachers direct students in a personal investigation of the Bible. All students are taught respect for God, for parents, and for the country in which we live. Freedom of expression is encouraged in the classes so that all Bible-related questions can be discussed. Only the Bible and Bible-centered materials are used in these classes. Regular attendance at these services will enable one to enlighten his mind, fortify his will, and encourage others to serve the Lord in full assurance of faith.

Occasionally, special preaching services are conducted on consecutive week-nights. If the speaker or speakers are assigned special topics these may be referred to as "lectures" or they may simply be referred to as "gospel meetings."

In a brief introduction such as this, it is not possible to state every point of our identity in detail. We believe, of course, in living clean, upright, and godly lives and in accepting and following the New Testament as our ONLY guide in matters of religion. So, where the scriptures speak, we speak; where the scriptures are silent, we are silent. The Word of God is sufficient for ALL the spiritual needs of man, 2Timothy 3:16,17; 2Peter 1:3. We believe people are saved and added to the Lord's church today in the same manner they were in New Testament times. Please note: Acts 2:1-42; 8:26-39.

THE WORSHIP OF THE LORD'S CHURCH

Since the New Testament says: "Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son." 2John 9 (NKJV), churches of Christ believe that the worship of the church should consist of only those elements found in the worship of the New Testament church. The elements of worship which we find authorized in the New Testament are: prayer (Acts 2:42); singing (Colossians 3:16); gospel preaching (Acts 20:7); partaking of the Lord's supper (1Corinthians 11:23-30); and contributing of our means (1Corinthians 16:1,2). Partaking of the Lord's supper and contributing of our means are only done on the Lord's day since that is the only time we find the New Testament church engaging in these acts of worship.

All such actions of worship are privileges of the members of the Lord's church and will not be forced upon any visitors we might have. Anyone having a question about anything taught or practiced in our assemblies will be given an opportunity to present that question if it is done decently and in order (1Corinthians 14:40)
